Kate Muehlemann Cataldo (she/they)

Hospice RN Educator, Death Doula, Artist

Kate Muehlemann Cataldo is a Registered Nurse, Hospice Educator, Death Doula, and an Artist. Throughout her career she has worked in bedside and supervisory roles of critical care units, post-surgical recovery, and as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) providing comprehensive care to sexual assault victims. After a car accident in 2010, Kate experienced the healthcare system from a patient's perspective, dealing with years of disability, chronic pain, and fatigue. This experience not only informs their work in healthcare advocacy, but it has also led to them pursuing work in Hospice & Palliative care, both as a home hospice RN and hospice educator. Kate also served as a Cultural Sensitivity Liaison between a hospice agency and the LGBTQ+ community providing education for both the community on end of life planning, and for clinicians on providing inclusive care.
Kate’s work in end of life care is rooted in advocacy for LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and their support systems in chronic illness through end of life in a way that honors identity and personhood. Constellations of Care was founded in 2020 to offer creative legacy projects, dialogue on mortality, and to provide information and tools for inclusive advance care planning.
